Overview
Read for Success combines teacher-led read-alouds with opportunities for children to read on their own. The program helps educators model proven reading strategies for their students through themed book collections that offer support in facilitating engaging and effective read-alouds and includes classroom and at-home extension activities related to the books. It also supports independent reading through a book distribution that enables students to choose six books to take home and own. Together, the read-alouds and take-home books lead to increased interest in reading and improved reading proficiency.
The program includes:
- Books for classrooms: High-quality, book collections for educator read-alouds, curated by literacy experts.
- Book ownership for students: Age-appropriate books for students (6 per student) to choose and take home for their own. Student journals, tote bags and online activities accompany these books.
- Facilitator’s Guide featuring interdisciplinary enrichment: Cross-curricular activities, aligned to the titles in the book collection, designed by educators to strengthen reading development and vocabulary skills.
- Implementation Guide: educator support with a program roadmap, model lessons, and more.
- Family engagement: Resources to extend and deepen learning at home.
- Literacy resources: Print and digital resources to support independent learning.

Testimonials
“It’s always inspiring to see thoughtful read-alouds. Often, I find I get into a reading routine and don’t put as much thought into read-alouds. This was a great ‘tune up.’ I am excited to get the books and the guides and incorporate them into the curriculum. Thank you!”
– Educator and RIF In-person Professional Development Participant
“The classroom teachers were so excited to receive books and lesson plans to share the joy of reading with their students. Because the lesson plans were included, it was easy for teachers to incorporate the new books into their already existing read aloud format that includes extended learning related to the book. The light lift made implementation really easy.”
