David Barry

Before joining the Department of Early and Middle Grades Education at West Chester University of PA as an Assistant Professor, Dr. David (Dave) Barry was a Kindergarten teacher in the Boston Public Schools for ten years, a Teaching Fellow at the Harvard Graduate School of Education for five years, and a Pre-K teacher at the University of Texas at Austin's Priscilla Pond Flawn Child and Family Laboratory school for two years. His research interests include early childhood teacher education, the prioritization of self-compassion within and across teacher education programs, and the importance of diverse representation in children's literature. His book, "Addressing Stress with Self-Compassion: A guide for early childhood teachers" (Teachers College Press) will be available beginning fall of 2024.
