Daris McInnis
Assistant Professor of Literacy, West Chester University
Daris McInnis is an Assistant Professor of Literacy at West Chester University and his research interests include family literacy, critical literacy, racial literacy, and early childhood education. He is also a doctoral candidate in the Reading/Writing/Literacy program at Penn GSE; his dissertation focuses on K-12 learning interruptions and uplifting family literacy practices. Prior to teaching and grad school in Pennsylvania, Daris taught PreK and early elementary grades in Washington, D.C. He was an Education Pioneer in New Orleans, LA, an Americorps Alum, and has volunteered as a teacher at an orphanage in Nairobi, Kenya. Daris is also a Pat Tillman Scholar and served five years as a commissioned officer on active duty in the United States Army.
